Ingram's move British film favourite

Ingram's vehicles at Dryderdale Hall move January 2012Lovers of the classic Michael Caine film Get Carter should have no problem in recognising the building in this photograph; it's Dryderdale Hall, a listed building which was extensively used in the 1970 film for internal and external scenes. Ingram's of Bishop Auckland have recently finished moving the contents of the property, a seven bedroom mansion on the outskirts of Hamsterley Forest, Bishop Auckland.

Ingram's carried out the move when their customer moved to the hall in 1991. At the time Malcolm Ingram, now Operations Director, was himself a team leader on the move. Twenty one years later and Ingram's were again contracted to move the customer out again. The move took place in mid-January.

Ingram's vehicle outside Dryderdale Hall, near Hamsterley ForestFour days were necessary for the move, the first two days consisted of packing and containerising 1,250 cubic feet at residence for storage and eventual delivery to the customer's second home in the South East of England. The following two days were required to pack and move 3,500 cubic feet of furniture and effects locally to the customer's new home in the small village of Hamsterley, Bishop Auckland.

Malcolm reports that the move went very well, without a hitch. Three staff were involved with the move on the first three days, with an additional two staff required on the fourth day to offload the 3,500 cubic feet consignment.

Three of Ingram's team leaders were extensively involved with the move, Kevin, 'Simo', and Steve, with a combined service record of 76 years in the industry.

Ingram’s of Bishop Auckland move the World renowned Botanist and Broadcaster Dr David Bellamy OBE

Dr Bellamy, wife Rosemary and their family spent over 40 years at their idyllic former home at Bedburn, Hamsterley Forest in County Durham. However in June 2014 it was time to move on. Ingram’s deployed a team of 8 staff and 3 vehicles over 3 long days to complete the Dr’s move. Due to access restrictions at the collection point, 2 Luton Mercedes vans were used to shuttle the families furniture and effects from the Bellamy’s home via a small narrow lane and then tranship onto a 2,300 cu ft removals wagon parked on the road side. Both Luton vans, completed the loading process with outside effects and not surprisingly a wide collection of plants.

Mr & Mrs McCallister - Moved Yarm to Iveston

"We got the news late on a Monday. Chain finally ready but completion had to be that Thursday or likely to go pear-shaped. My original movers had no availability but arriving to save the day came the friendly, calm and reassuring voice of Malcolm Ingram. No fuss made about the short notice within minutes the schedule for packing and moving was sorted. A splendid team of 5 came to pack and load on completion day. They were quick, careful, supremely efficient, polite, cheerful and nothing was too much trouble.

We had overnight essentials unloaded later the same day and had time to clean our new home ready for everything else to be unloaded the next morning. There was no damage to the houses old or new during the move. (only wish the new place's movers had been half as careful). The unloading team went above and beyond, even helping us shift unwanted wardrobes the previous owners had promised to remove, so we could get our furniture in.

I have moved quite a few times and can honestly say Ingram's were the very best by miles."

Gordon & Beverley - Moved Wolsingham via container stores to North Aberdeenshire

"Just to mention that all items were finally found...the “missing” shoes were in a box that I had incorrectly directed to the shed. Kevin & Ray did a fantastic job and nothing was too much trouble for them ... kept smiling through the rain and heavy lifting...great lads. Thank you for a smooth operation and help."

Senior Ranking Army Officer <name witheld> - Wolsingham, County Durham to Reading, Berkshire
