Local tourist attractions include the numerous castles and religious centres as well as the more cosmopolitan centres of Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Morpeth, Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland.
The Northumberland has lovely coastline where fresh produce is readily available in the may fishing ports and quays. Amble and Craster have great food in our opinion.
There are extensive walking and cycling routes throughout the area. The cycling route from Edinburgh down to Newcatle is names Coast and Castles - noted for its interesting places and wonderful views.
