Cumbria & Lake District has a distinct landscape with sweeping valleys, high peaks and lakes nestled amongst them. Handrian's Wall continues from the east through this region to the sea.
There are many Castles and estates throughout the region - Birdoswalk (Roman), Appleby Castle, Brough Castle, Carlisle Castle, Penrith Castle and Piel Castle.
Religious Centres include Carlisle Cathedral, Conishead Priory, Furness Abbey, Calder Abbey and Cartmel Priory.

Local tourist attractions include the numerous castles and religious centres as well as the more cosmopolitan centres of Carlisle, Penrith, Windermere/Bowness, Kendal, Keswick and Cockermouth.
Coastal attractions include Workington, Whitehaven and Barrow-in-Furness.
One of our favourite towns is Keswick - full of museums and a great shopping location. Nearby Ambleside is great for the views and nature - a photographers dream when it's not raining! |
